The white Indian bride

Yes, I am a stranger to Indian culture. And yes I do make all Indians go crazy with asking why after why. In my Indian-ness I am very much like a child who looks at everything for the first time with a naive face and eyebrows raised sky high. And despite the tons of whys I am invading Indians with some of the things cannot be learnt by talking. With those things experience comes by doing. And/or... by making mistakes.

So there is me, lost in translation.

Just as a quick overview to this tradition, in the state of Punjab in Northern India freshly wedded wives wear a pile of gracious bangles for 40 days after the wedding. It is a ritual they do for the health and long life of their husband. (Just a side note - I asked my partner what husbands do for their wives for the next 40 days in return but I only got big confused eyes looking back at me. Sigh!)
